2.6.3 Condensate Drain Line
2.6.3.1 Gravity Drain
A 7/8 inch OD copper (sweat type) line is provided
to drain the condensate drain pan. This line also
drains the humidi er, if applicable. The drain line
must be located so it will not be exposed to freezing
temperatures. The drain line should be the full size
of the connection. See the installation drawing
provided with your unit for the size and location of the
condensate drain line.
WARNING
Do not use chloride based water conditioning
additives in the condensate drain pans. This will
cause corrosion to occur on the coil ns.
NOTE
During normal operation the optional humidi er
drains (hot) water into the condensate drain
line. As an option, a separate drain line may
be provided for the humidi er.
2.6.3.2 Condensate Pump (See Figure 4)
A condensate pump is used for automatic removal of
condensate from the air conditioner and ush water
from the humidi er (if applicable). A p-trap must be
installed for proper condensate drainage. The height
of the trap must be a minimum of 2 inches on most
standard systems to ensure proper water drainage
of the drain pan. The condensate pump discharge
line should be 1/2 inch OD maximum copper or vinyl
tubing to prevent excessive back ow to unit.

NOTE
Pour some water into the condensate drain(s)
prior to start-up. This lls the trap and prevents
air from being drawn up the drain lines.
2.6.4 Humidi er (Optional)
CeilAiR systems utilize an electrode steam humidi er.
The humidi er empties into the condensate drain
line during the ush/drain cycle. A water supply line
must be connected to the copper tubing connection
supplied by the factory. Refer to the installation
drawing provided with your unit for the size and
location of the connection. The humidi er requires
normal tap water as the water supply. If the supply
water is high in particulate, an external lter may be
needed.
CAUTION
Do not use demineralized water.
Refer to the humidi er operator’s manual, supplied
with the equipment, for complete manufacturer’s
information on the humidi er and the supply water
recommendations.
